One of 80 copies on vellum pur fil, second paper after 20 vellum de Hollande. In this very famous novel, of autobiographical inspiration, the narrator tells of his childhood in Russia, Poland and then in Nice, his apprenticeship in aviation, his war adventures in Europe and Africa. The narrative is placed under the sign of maternal love and filial piety, which seal the author's tacit promise to his mother to "become someone". The novel was adapted into a film by Jules Dassin in 1970 and by Éric Barbier in 2017. Nice copy, well bound.
