Comic artist Edmond Francois Calvo (1892-1957), the grandmaster of the animal comic. In this, his magnum opus, he transposes World War II into the animal kingdom. - "Anti-militarist, anti-fascist literature, and especially satire, is aimed mainly at adults. By children it is mostly enjoyed because the familiar figures of their imagery, and here of 'Disney World', become active in war and politics" (Schug).
