Description

Grundfeste, Die,

of the Christian-revealed religion. A single but necessary to know main piece: Against the newer naturalists, especially Mr. Immanuel Kant, Adam Weishaupt, Cagliostro, Blau, Peter Philipp Wolf and others. Augsburg, Wolff 1796. 6 pp., 243 pp. Old leather of the time with ribbon. VD 18, 12012351. - Rare anonymous pamphlet mainly against Kant as well as Freemasons, "Naturalists, Clubists and Jacobins". - There are books which bear their brand on the forehead, and it is therefore not necessary to copy more than the title of such books in order to convince all sensible readers already by this that it would be a waste of time to lose even a word about such branded products. We would do the same with the present book if we could not hope to shake the diaphragm of our readers by something extra stupid, and in this way at least to benefit their digestive organs. It is only in this respect that we take the liberty of saying a few words about this pamphlet, and of singling out a few passages. How might it look in the brain of a scribbler who dares to bring the Königsberg worldly wise man and the windbag Cagliostro under one category?" (F. Nicolai in Neue allgemeine deutsche Bibliothek, Kiel 1797, 29th volume, 8th issue, pp. 487 ff.). - Partly somewhat brown-spotted, with manuscript. Ownership inscription on inner cover, st.on the back.
