With the handsome wood engravings first made in 1553 for the "Quadrains historiques de la Bible" by Claude Paradin, one of the highlights of French book illustration of the time. Book illustration from the time of Mannerism. - In the beginning some of the woodcuts coloured. - Partly somewhat water-margined, p. 1129 to end with strong mousing lower right. (loss of text), title with cancelled ownership mark - With approx. 190 woodcuts in the text. Contemporary leather over wood (damaged, severely worn). Few woodcuts in the beginning coloured. Partly somewhat waterstained, p. 1129 until the end with damage done by mice (text loss), title with erased ownership note.
