IRIBE (Paul) - COCTEAU (Jean). The Word. Paris, November 28, 1914 - July 1, 1915. - 20 issues in-folio, 437 x 282. Bradel dark green half-maroquin, smooth spine, untrimmed (Franz). Complete collection of this beautiful anti-German satirical and patriotic review, directed by Paul IRIBE in collaboration with Jean COCTEAU. It includes 20 issues published at the beginning of the great war, from November 28, 1914 to July 1, 1915. Each issue, comprising from 2 to 6 sheets, is illustrated with black and colored compositions by Paul Iribe, Jean Cocteau under the pseudonym of Jim, Sem (n° 3), Raoul Dufy (n° 10 and 13), Léon Bakst (n° 18), Albert Gleizes or André Lhote (n° 20). A copy bound by Franz, complete with the colour advertising leaflets as well as those justifying the delay in publication. It has been enriched with the following items : - large original drawing signed by Paul Iribe, done in India ink on a folio sheet, representing a caricature of two German soldiers with this caption : " Le coup du recul. - But, dad, what is this? // - That, my son, is strategy!...", - censored cover of issue #8, - issue #16 dated March 20, 1915, without text and with Paul Iribe's censored drawing (very rare), - copy of issue #41 of April 13, 1916 of the magazine La Baïonnette, a special issue entirely illustrated by Paul Iribe, titled La Danse macabre . One of the 80 first copies numbered on japon impérial (n° 48). Spine faded, tear at head cover, some wear and tear.
