GOUDEAU (Émile). Paris qui Consomme. Paris : for Henri Beraldi, 1893. - In-8, 274 x 192 : (4 ff.), IX pp., (1 f.), 325 pp., (1 f.), printed cover. Paperback, filled cover. First edition of this interesting work on the festive and gastronomic customs of Parisians at the end of the 19th century. Goudeau's texts have been sublimated by Pierre VIDAL who has composed 51 full-page colour drawings. Edition at 138 copies on vélin des Vosges (n° 74). Copy partly uncropped. Cover browned. Attached, by the same author : - Parisienne idylle. Paris : Maison du livre, for Charles Meunier, 1903. - In-8, 267 x 184 : (3 ff.), 76 pp. illustrated cover. Rooted grey-blue calf, first board decorated with a white morocco mosaic cat in the lower left corner, meowing after 3 gilt swallows in the upper right corner, smooth spine decorated with a gilt design, untrimmed, cover preserved (publisher's binding). Original edition of only 90 copies, illustrated with 2 figures on the cover, a frontispiece, a title vignette and 29 compositions in the text, wood-engraved by Froment père after drawings by Pierre VIDAL. One of the 70 copies on China paper (n° 63), with a suite of all the woodcuts on japon pelure. This one also includes a proof on japon of the frontispiece. Rubbing from use on the spine, gilding on the spine partly faded. A few scattered foxing without seriousness.
