Purple morocco, chased and modelled metal plate inlaid in the centre of the boards, presenting a different decoration, surrounded by motifs of leaves, branches and pine cones mosaicked in different morocco, spine decorated with a continuous mosaic decoration with that of the boards, surrounding in the centre a view of a village, dark green morocco lining, decorated with a half-timbered house mosaic in the centre of the first lining and a beer mug and 2 pipes mosaic in the centre of the second one, silk endpapers illustrated with a flight of storks, double endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Moens) Edition of 170 copies illustrated with 16 compositions by Edmond MALASSIS, engraved in colours by Louis Mortier, including one on the cover, and 8 decorative motifs engraved on wood. One of 150 copies on vellum paper (n° 51). A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE IN DOUBLED AND MOSAICATED BINDING OF THE TIME, MADE BY THE PARISIAN BOOKBINER EUGÈNE MOËNS who, according to Fléty, practiced from 1890 to 1914, and whose art bindings are very rare. Spine faded, rubbing to the nerves, cracks to the hinges.
