Beautiful limited edition of the four titles of Colette's Claudine, illustrated with colour compositions by CHAS LABORDE, forming respectively the eighth, twelfth, sixteenth and seventeenth volumes of the collection "Les Beaux romans". Each copy is one of 1100 numbered on Rives vellum (n° 971, 331, 282 and 997). Copy with the following pieces : - 4 suites of 8 compositions in colours by Georges LEPAPE for the edition of Claudine published by Albin Michel in 1930-1931 . Each suite is presented in the corresponding publisher's cover, also illustrated with a colour composition by Lepape. - 3 original drawings by Chas Laborde, unsigned, for the illustrations on pages 93, 133 and 243 of Claudine à Paris. - L.A.S. from Willy, February 26, 1908, one page in-12 on the letterhead of 6 rue Chambiges, addressed to the playwright Emile Fabre. Interesting letter concerning the actress Georgette Leblanc (1869-1941) who displeased Willy: "When I liked her, I said so; why should I remain silent when I dislike her? Do you suppose that she spares me when what I do seems to her to be reprehensible? Besides, that's not the point. The personality of this interesting, but very uneven artist, has no place here. She disappointed me." L.A.S. from Colette, 1918, one page in-12, addressed to her sister-in-law Jeanne Robineau . She postpones a lunch because of the rehearsal for the press of Rip's play. Copies very well preserved.
