First collective edition of 1000 copies, illustrated with a portrait of the author engraved by Manesse after Paillet and 87 vignettes after the Swiss painter and illustrator Everet Louis von Muyden (1853-1922), including 3 false title frames and 6 etchings (3 chapter headings and 3 lettering). One of 55 copies on Japan paper, this one being one of the 5 enriched with an original watercolour signed by the artist on the false title (n° III). It also includes 2 states of the portrait and 3 of the etchings. Beautiful copy bound in the manner of 18th century bindings.
