Half garnet calf, spine gilt, gilt head, untrimmed, cover preserved (period binding). First edition illustrated with 140 vignettes in the text or on full page and 10 plates on Japon. A catalogue of the novels, dramas and poems, decorated with vignettes, from 1825 to 1840, is found at the end. UNIQUE EDITION, enriched with the publication prospectus and nearly 200 original pieces including lithographs, vignettes, covers, title pages, etc., bound or glued on interleaved sheets . Among these pieces are several prints of vignettes on chine, a copy of the number 10 of L'Éclipse with a caricature of Champfleury by Gill on the front cover, the score of the Ballade Les Deux Archers by Victor Hugo and Hippolyte Monpou, illustrated with a vignette by Nanteuil, etc. Rubbing from use on the spine. The frontispiece representing Alfred and Tony Johannot has been placed at the head of the second part.
