First edition of this album containing portraits and biographical notes of all the members of the Comédie-Française in 1880. It includes an engraved title, an out-of-text engraving of a monument in honour of Molière and Shakespeare after a drawing by Sarah Bernhardt, the epistle of Dumas fils to the Prince of Wales, reproduced in facsimile in the author's handwriting on blue paper, and 23 out-of-text portraits of the various members, engraved in etching by Abot. Under each portrait is a signed thought, reproduced in facsimile in the artist's handwriting. A copy of the journalist and dramatic critic Francisque Sarcey (1827-1899), bound in his cipher on the back. Cut on one edge of the first plate.
