[CIRCUS]. Precious set of books and documents on the circus: - BARRÈRE (Adrien) - CODEY (Émile). Circus and Music Hall. Souvenir du Cirque de Paris. Paris, [ca. 1925]. - Album in-4, paperback. A rare and amusing humorous album about the circus, illustrated by Adrien Barrère and captioned by Émile Codey. It is divided into two parts that unfold like an accordion. This copy is enriched with the score of Cousine, a song created by Mayol, illustrated with a portrait of the artist by Sem, the original colour drawing signed by Barrère on tracing paper, the poster of P. L. Flers' magazine entitled Ce que je peux rire. Flers' magazine poster entitled Ce que je peux rire, made for the Alcazar and depicting the caricatured portraits of Dranem and Miss Campton, a superb drawing of the face of a white clown and the text Réflexions sur le cirque by Francis Carco, pages 27 to 30 taken from a book. Two programs of the Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione, from 1948 and 1951, the first with a dedication from Gustave Reverho and the clowns Rolph and Zavatta, the second with the signature of Gustave, Madeleine and André Reverho. - Original photograph by the A. Wulf studio in Hamburg, showing Gustave and André Reverho in stage dress, with the signature "Reverho" in the lower left corner. - Greeting card from Gustave, Madeleine and André Reverho for 1955, 2 sheets in-16, with a long autograph page from André Reverho to his cousin. - Card of thanks addressed to Jacques Crépineau after the death of Madeleine Reverho. - BOST (Pierre). A very well preserved copy, enriched with an autograph postcard from the author addressed to Jacques Crépineau. - FERNEL (Fernand) - BIZET (René). The Union of Artists at the Circus. 1923-1930. Paris : Union des artistes, [1931]. - Large album in-4 oblong, 288 x 423. White half cloth boards from the publisher. Incomplete copy of this beautiful album decorated with compositions drawn in intaglio from the studies made by Fernel at the parties given from 1923 to 1930 by the Union des artistes at the circus. It includes 36 plates out of the 60 required. The copy is enriched with the subscription form, a large original drawing by Siss in India ink on the theme of the circus, newspaper clippings and a few magazines, mainly from the 1950s, concerning the circus, as well as the program for the 40th gala of the Union des artistes, dating from 1973 . - GROCK. Precious set on the famous German clown Adrien Wettach, better known under the pseudonym Grock. Includes the two-sheet booklet of Pierre Billon's film Au revoir monsieur Grock, released in 1950, in which was placed a superb original photograph of Grock as a clown, DEDICATED TO SACHA GUITRY ("To the most famous actor and author // Monsieur Sacha Guitry // with all my admiration // on February 4 // 1924 // Grock") 2 very beautiful watercolours by the costume designer Charles Bétout, representing 4 costume studies, the score of Allo Grock illustrated with a composition after Vertès, a German brochure on Grock from the Varieté-Festspiele, and the reproduction of a caricature of Grock by Georges Bastia. - KUBNICK (Henri).
