Beautiful catalogue of the sale of the collection of the famous cabaret du Chat Noir, including more than 700 lots divided into 7 sections: Paintings - Original drawings - Watercolors - Original drawings used to illustrate the Tales of the Black Cat - Shadow plays - Lithographs, Prints, Etchings, Proofs before the letter - Miscellaneous. The sale took place in May 1898 at the Hôtel Drouot. The edition includes numerous reproductions in the text and on the full page, and 9 off-texts including a portrait of Salis by Léandre. UNIQUE EDITION, ABUNDANTLY TRUMPED BY JACQUES CRÉPINEAU OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: - cover of Paul Delmet's score for Le Vieux Mendiant, including an autograph letter from the composer to Georges Courteline, - ORIGINAL DRAWING SIGNED BY ANDRÉ GILL representing a caricature of Victorien Sardou and Victorien Sulpice in a rehearsal of Séraphine at the Gymnase .
