BARBIER (George). Dramatic Panorama. Casanova, sets and costumes by George Barbier. Very nice and rare album presenting the sets and costumes made by George Barbier for Casanova, a play in three acts by Maurice Rostand, performed at the Bouffes-Parisiens in February 1919, with Jane Renouart in the title role. The work consists of a preface by Barbier and 24 plates by the same author, including 22 costumes and 2 sets, coloured by Jacomet. This copy is enriched with the original program of the play, 8 leaves in-32, and 6 beautiful autograph letters signed by the actress Jane Renouart, interpreter of the role of Elvire in the play, addressed to the playwright Henry Bataille. Comprising 19 pages in total, they date from the first months of 1918 and concern the preparation of a play at the Réjane theatre. This play is certainly Notre image, a comedy in 2 acts by Henry Bataille, performed for the first time on October 17, 1918 in the said theater. Soiled folder, missing links, some missing paper on the back.
