Description

Sacha GUITRY (1885-1957). Autograph manuscript signed, Le Comédien; 37 pages in-8 (of which 15 in ink, the rest in pencil) of a large volume in-8 in an 18th century binding in green morocco with the arms of Louis XVI on the boards with gilt lace, spine decorated with red leather title-piece Semaine Sainte, edges gilt. Partial manuscript of the 4-act comedy Le Comédien, presenting the 2 tableaux of the first act: "Le Premier Tableau peut être supprimé à la représentation". Le Comédien was first performed at the Théâtre Edouard VII on 21 January 1921 (the anniversary of the death of Louis XVI), with Lucien Guitry to whom the play is dedicated. This manuscript would have been made by Sacha Guitry as a gift to his father; he abandoned it, perhaps at the death of Lucien Guitry in 1925. 21 January 1928, Guitry turned the volume over and wrote two pages of Notes on PORTO-RICHE .
