The clock features a female river allegory resting on a richly chased gilt bronze base decorated with friezes of flowers, foliage, scrolls and jagged shell motifs. The enameled dial features blue Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals and chemin de fer for the hours. Signed "Charpentier Cie Bronziers à Paris Rue Charlot 8". The 5-light candelabra with 6 lights are supported by figures of child bearers, standing on a gilded bronze base richly decorated with cartouches, shells, trellises and foliage. H. Pendulum: 45 cm L.
