Christiaan van der Klaauw (Leiden 1944), A Frisian 'stoeltjesklok', The Netherlands, after 1978.

The 'stoel" (wall mount support) crowned with openworked crest embellished with a coat-of-arms with inscription: Joure (location of his workshop in Friesland after 1978) and CK, two putti as shield bearers, the backsplat with two carved wood mermaids, a tempus fugit motif underneath. The dial face crowned with openworked crest, embellished with a monogrammed coat-of-arms: CK, allegorical figures: Spes, Fides, Charitas (Geloof, Hoop, Liefde). At the front polychromed with a landscape décor, the cypher ring with Roman numerals, with moon- and date indication. The mechanism embellished with verge escapement, including a pendulum and (2) weights, struck with a count wheel on a single chime. Meas. 78 x 40 x 26.5 cm. Estimate: € 1000 - € 1500.
