A burr walnut veneered Louis XV longcase clock, Dutch, ca. 1730.

The hood crowned with atlas figure and angels, carved crest and openworked panels, the dial face behind a glass panel, cypher ring with Roman numerals, the insert with seconds indication, day- and month, the center engraved and with four corner ornaments. The lunette with seascape (ships) automaton (paintloss), surrounded by a signature: Ian Antoni Vrythoff, 's Hage (Johannes Antonius Vrijthoff, the Hague). The mechanism with anchor-escapement, struck on a double chime, on full- and half hours, cat gut strings from a later date. The trunk with a single door, embellished with a cartouche, allegorical figure depicting Europe and the bull, inlay shaped as tulips, fruitwood bands and a plain lower section. The trunk with damaged veneer, the mechanism in need of cleaning. Meas: L: 26,5 cm, W: 61,5 cm, H: 265 cm. Estimate: € 1000 - € 1200.
