Note: Libation cups were communal drinking horns used for important ceremonial occasions. Those made from rhino horn supposedly had magical powers, thought to have aphrodisian qualities (lust evoking) and were believed to have the ability to give away the presence of poison. Such pieces were presented to young scholars when they graduated succesfully. Dim. W: 10.6 cm, H: 13.9 cm. Estimate: € 18000 - € 20000.
