A BÖTTGER STONEWARE CYLINDRICAL TANKARD Meissen, c. 1710-13. Red stoneware with darkish horizontal veins. Wheel-polished. Of cylindrical form with moulded, domed cover and moulded, grooved foot band. The strap handle with side grooves and with ground depression at the base. The upper area of the interior polished. With silver-gilt mount and ball thumb-piece. H 22.5 cm. Minimal edge chips to the foot. In the Meissen inventory from 3 August 1711, the entire product range of the factory was listed, including a large number of different Böttger stoneware tankards, such as "54 hohe glatte Bier Krüge (gebrannt)" (C.
