PAIR OF POTS-POURRIS WITH COQUILLAGE DECORATION Sceaux, circa 1770 Low-fired earthenware, gold highlights Good condition, one handle glued back H. 25 cm Provenance Private collection, Paris This pair of pot-pourris with Greek handles announces the Louis XVI style that the ceramist Richard Glot contributed to develop at the manufacture of Sceaux from 1772. The perforated lids are surmounted by a heap of shells from which emerge two large scallop shells. They cover the vases, each side of which is animated by different bouquets of flowers au naturel. The base of the lid, the neck and the foot of the vase are underlined by gadroons and ribbons enhanced with gold. Note the beautiful shades of pink and soft green.
