DOG AND BLOOD IN THE NATURAL Manufacture de Mennecy-Villeroy, circa 1750 Polychrome enamelled soft porcelain Chipped dog's ear and boar's tooth restored H. 21 cm, W. 20 cm, D. 13 cm DV mark painted on the terrace of each figurine Provenance Private collection, Paris, since 2018 This pair of animal figurines presents a curée scene where the dog at the stops faces a wild boar cornered in its last entrenchments. This hunting theme, developed by the Manufacture of Mennecy-Villeroy, was also enamelled with white as attested by another group kept at the Musée de Sèvres (fig. 1).
