PLAQUE "WITH PARROTS FLORENCE, CIRCA 1830 Marble and polychrome hard stone inlay Gilded wood frame H. 64 cm, L. 46.5 cm This marble and hardstone marquetry plaque represents two parrots chained on a two-tiered perch holding two bowls filled with water and fruit. It is reminiscent of the 17th century Florentine productions of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure founded by the third Grand Duke of Tuscany Ferdinand I de' Medici (fig. 1 and 2).
