Georges Braque's "Lettera Amorosa" is one of the artist's last works, completed a few months before his death. It contains 27 color lithographs illustrating the lyrical work of René Chars. The close collaboration between the two artists is made palpable by Braque's intense use of colour and his reduced forms, which further emphasise Char's texts. The drafts of the present lithographs, which were produced in up to 13 prints in succession, were repeatedly revised by Braque over a period of 4 years until they were completed in their final composition. - Minimally browned, otherwise beautifully preserved.
