Original green paperback with gilt cover label and cover border as well as gilt edges on three sides. gilt edges (corners and capitals bumped, spine with missing parts in the cover, cover slightly bent up). Lipperheide Ga 30 - Colas 872 - Hiler 240 (each giving only 30 plates) - Not by Lonchamp. - One of the most beautiful and sought-after traditional costume works of Switzerland, commonly (and probably wrongly) attributed to Gottfried Locher. - The plates, each in the format of c. 21.5 x 17 cm, mounted on brown backing boards with black framing lines and provided with protective shirts. The accompanying sheet introduces the respective costume as well as its wearer by name - there are 22 ladies for the cantons as well as 10 additional ones as supplements. - Text slightly browned and in places slightly fingerstained. The plates in the upper part partly minimally spotted and wavy resp., otherwise very fine copy. - Gest. allegorical publisher's advertisement by J. P. Lamy mounted on mirror.
