The copper bears a collector's reference to Joachim Beuckelaer, probably in relation to the artist's Oration in the Garden, sold at Sotheby's in London on 7 July 2011, lot 218. However, although no solid analogies can be found to support the attribution, the work has unmistakable Flemish stylistic features, in particular of the sixteenth-century Antwerp school.
