PITTORE VENETO DEL XVII-XVIII SECOLO
Landscape with shepherds
Oil on canvas, 31X48 cm
This work was painted by a painter active in the Veneto area, whose style suggests that it is attributed to Bartolomeo Pedon (Venice, 1665-1732), a singular artist devoted to the landscape genre, which he evokes with visionary imagination, populating it with small figures resolved with rapid brushstrokes in spots. In the renewal of the figurative language of the Veneto between the 17th and 18th centuries, Pedon was a painter of transition, who reworked the examples of Anton Eismann and Hans de Jode, leading them to typically 18th-century poetics, in analogy with the illustrious Marco Ricci.
