Description

PARIS 1797 - 1809 Large ovoid silver tripod pourer. It rests on lion's claws extended by a chasing of fur and falling piastres ending in lion masks. The body is chiselled at its base with lanceolate leaves extending the masks. Under the handle, at two points of attachment, is applied a head of Bacchus and falling vine branches. The neck is chiselled with laurel garlands framing the spout with an eagle's head emerging from an acanthus leaf. The hinged lid is finished with an acorn on a terrace engraved with laurel leaves. The different registers are separated by striated bands.
