Round handle bowl "Riemerschmid". Richard Riemerschmid for Meissen. 1903- 1924. Richard Riemerschmid1868 Munich - 1957 ibid. Porcelain, glazed and painted in underglaze blue. From the "Riemerschmid" dinner service. Round, moulded form, the upper rim regularly notched. Outer rim decorated by dotted border in relief and two borders of stylized leaf decor. Two shallow handles with regular drop decoration. Underneath the sword mark in underglaze blue, the embossed number "46", the incised number "2" and the painter's number "52". First choice. Year of design: 1903-1905. A shrinkage in the standing ring.The inside of the bowl with scattered light and tiny dots in underglaze blue, and on the top rim with a small spot in underglaze blue. Dimensions: D. 22,5 cm, D. 29,5 cm (with handles). Richard Riemerschmid 1868 Munich - 1957 ibid Visual designer, architect, co-founder of the reform style. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1888-90. In 1900/01 he designed the Munich Schauspielhaus. In 1903-05 he led the master class for arts and crafts at the Bavarian Trade Museum in Nuremberg. 1907-13 overall planning of the development of the first German garden city Dresden-Hellerau, 1909-13 garden city Nuremberg. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Deutscher Werkbund, 1921-26 its chairman. 1913-24 director of the Munich School of Arts and Crafts, appointed privy councillor. 1926-31 Director of the Cologne Werkschulen.
