Julius Heinrich Hähnel1823 Bad Schmiedeberg - 1909 Dresden
Bronze, cast, brown-green patinated. Plinth hollow-cast, signed "J. HAEHNEL F.C." on the upper side in the area of the hind hooves.
Oxidation on head, belly and hooves as well as on the plinth. Both antlers apparently attached later, the left side somewhat loose.
Measures: H. 38,5 cm.

1840-44 Studies in the modelling department of the Royal Polytechnic School Dresden. From 1844 studio pupil of Ernst Rietschel at the Royal Academy of Arts Dresden. 1847/48 stay in Berlin. Participates in exhibition at the Royal Academy London. Later teaches at the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts. His work consists mainly of animal sculptures in bronze, besides models for the porcelain manufactory Meissen. Brothers of Ernst Julius Hähnel.
