Julius Paul Schmidt-Felling, Fisher Boy. Probably late 19th century. Julius Paul Schmidt-Felling1835 Berlin - 1920 ? Bronze, cast, brown-black and partially greenish patinated. Mounted on a marble base. Signed "Schmidt-Felling" on the top of the plinth in the model, stamped "Echte Bronce" on the verso. Recto a dedication engraving. Dimensions: h. 28 cm, w. 11,5 cm, d. 7,5 cm, h. with base 32 cm. Julius Paul Schmidt-Felling 1835 Berlin - 1920 ? German sculptor. Little is known about his life. He created bronze Art Nouveau figures that served a variety of subjects, including athletes, mythological warriors, nudes, workers, and children at play. Many of his works were realized at the Gladenbeck art foundry in Berlin, some by the Robert Kionsek foundry. During the early Art Deco period, Schmidt-Felling incorporated the chryselephantine technique typical of the time into his work.
