Fragments of the working manuscript of the third (and final) act of this comedy first performed on May 6, 1949 at the Théâtre du Gymnase, by Sacha Guitry and Lana Marconi.
In most of the manuscript, the female character is called
Antoinette; but in the last pages, as well as in the defi nitive version, Guitry has changed her name to Ecaterina. The manuscript is abundantly crossed out and corrected; other pages are in successive versions; there are variants with the final text.
