GDR, artist books. - ariadnefabrik. 1. to 5. jg. (all published). 24 vols, Bln. 1986-90. largely as typescript, often illustrated with serigraphs, xerox copies, also original photographs. Olwd. volumes, 23 no. with cover title in serigraphy after design by Christine Schlegel (b. 1950). Henkel/Russ Z 2.1 to 2.22. - The handmade journal published in smallest edition, 40 to 60 copies. In bibliographies only four years until 1989 verifiable, here with the two rare numbers which were still published after the reunification, before the critical pioneer journal was merged with other GDR artists' journals into the literary publishing house Galrev. For facsimile production on the Internet, the journal, which was largely produced on a typewriter, has proved to be inaccessible for technical reasons, and the copy of the Sächs. Landesbibliothek, which is distributed via the Deutsche Fotothek, is correspondingly poorly presented. Minus the control exercised by the GDR security services (in the present copy also some blackened lines as well as a removed leaf in no. 5, 1988, the total count agreeing with Henkel/Russ) ariadnefabrik represents an opposition not at a loss for ciphers, also with neo-humanist recourse, for which also the title is representative. Contributions by Penck and Heiner Müller are less shy, alongside them the photographs - also signed - by Thomas Florschuetz and Roger Melis, with increasing markers of a turning point in time, culminating in No. 2, 1989, with a photo series by Tamara Bauer (born 1958) on the current state of decay.
