Black morocco, front cover geometric embossing, author's name repeated in silver over mosaics of various shades of grey, gilt title, inner mirror and endpapers of black paper with gold rain, gilt edges to head. Signed & dated 1952. 22.5:14 cm. Was exhibited in: Exposition de la Société de la Reliure Originale, Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale 1959, catalogue no. 415, reproduced plate 39: "Maroquin noir. Sur le plat supérieur décor de filets à froid, coupés de jeux de lettres en palladium sur des mosaïques de différents tons des gris; titre or sur plat. Doublure de papier Ingres noir." - Provenance: Robert Ranc, until 1969 director of the Collège Technique Estienne, where Jean Knoll taught drawing, art and book history as of 1958 as well as headed the bookbinding workshop, dept. designs.
