Fernand Allard l'Olivier (1883 - 1933) uit Doornik is one of the Afrikanisten from the twentieth century, from the later zogenoemde jaren. He is one of the most important Afrikanists of the twentieth century, and his work has been a source of inspiration for the Afrikaans people. Totally at the beginning of the colonial period, this realistic painting is still in use in Congo. Allard l'Olivier decorated the Institute for Tropical Genetics in Antwerp
