Giuseppe Parvis (1832-1905), attributed to Display case with a door and three drawers Clear polychromous wood veneer decor in egyptian manner 'January 1898' inscribed on the back Second half of the 19th c. H 127 × L 82 × P 18 cm Giuseppe Parvis was born in Bremen in 1832 and died in Cairo in 1909. After studying the the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin, he left for Cairo in 1859 owhere he created a furniture store. The universal or international exhibitions of Paris (1867), Philadelphia (1876), Milan (1881) and Turin (1884) brought him international recognition and he became the supplier for the khedives. A dresser in the same style as our display case was exhibited at the 1884 Turin exhibition.
