Hendrik Goltzius (1558-1607) - The Three Fates - 1588 / Description: The three goddesses of fates in a landscape. The standing goddess of Fate, Clotho, holds the distaff, with the raw flax in her other hand. The sitting Lachesis, seen from the back, holds the bobbin and measures the thread. The left goddess of Fates, the ancient Atropos, cuts the thread with scissors ; first state published by Goltzius; Signed HG Invent. Attributed to his son in law Jacob Matham. / Dimensions: 30 x 21 cm Excellent impression on winged shield watermarked laid paper.
