Cornelis Cort (1533-1578) - Esau Selling his Birthright / Description: Designed by Frans Floris (151--1570)., Esau Selling his Birthright; Jacob and Esau eating a bowl of stew with spoons seated in a wood; the design is in the form of a section of a ring; Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!" [Genesis 25:29-34]. From a series of six prints in of a circular design. / Dimensions: 13,20 x 21,80 cm Excellent condition. Very good impression with some plate tone on watermarked laid paper with full plate border and good 1-2 mm margins. / Literature: Bohlin 1979 18.IV (Annibale), Posner 1971 97 , Bartsch XVIII.182.4 --- influenced by Correggio's painting on the same theme in the Pinacoteca Nazionale, Parma. The indication that the print was made in Caprarola appears from the second state on. Engraving
