Jacques Callot (1592-1635) - Entry of Charles IV Duke of Lorraine in a ballroom / Description: The entry of Charles IV Duke of Lorraine in a ballroom with vaulted, coffered seiling, and people seated in seated in tiers on the sides; in the middle of the room, page boys and men; in the background, the float carrying the Duke enters the room. With title and production detail: 'Jac. Callot In. et fec.'. The hard to read watermark (probably Lieure 35) and the absence of a fold suggest this is one of the extremely rare impressions made before the publication in Humbert's 'Le Combat à la Barrière' in 1627) as mentioned by Lieure.
