Gala sword Northern Germany/Scandinavia, late 17th century. Brass hilt cast in relief with an openwork ball pommel and pronounced finger guards. The guard en suite with ornamental mascarons. Bellied hilt with brass wire winding and four vertical brass clasps. A thrusting blade of initially hexagonal, then rhomboid cross-section. Brass floral inlays on both sides of the forte. L approx. 96.5 cm.
