Tabriz silk NW Persia, c. 1960. Pure silk pile material and warp. Signed "Iran Tabriz" at the top and bottom centre of the outer border. A magnificent star medallion in white, turquoise and rose red rests in the luminous midnight blue centre field, densely surrounded by floral palmettes, delicate vines, animals and birds in a wide variety of shades and tones, as well as 4 elegantly decorated light-coloured corner spandrels. Several secondary borders surround the red wide main border decorated with palmettes, vines and animals. Needs cleaning. Very good condition. 140x204 cm (ft. 4.6x6.7).
