Religious embroidery Switzerland, Grisons, around 1700, with additions. Worked from fragments (of an altar cloth). Coloured flock silk, partly in a lining technique, on grey-beige linen. Richly embroidered with floral vines. Mary and Child stand on a crescent moon in the centre, framed by bobbin lace inserts. Ornamentally patterned inner and outer borders have been added. 122x96 cm. - Small damaged, missing and repaired areas.
