16 - DUPONT DE L'EURE, President of the Provisional Government of February 1848. Autograph manuscript of his speech at the Vendome Column on March 4, 1848. Jacques-Charles Dupont de l'Eure (1767-1855) is an emblematic Republican figure. The riots of 23 and 24 February 1848 which overthrew Louis-Philippe claimed 15 victims. They were buried in a necropolis located under the July Column. Dupont de l'Eure made a speech in front of the 15 coffins. The present manuscript is the draft in his hand, on the letterhead of the Provisional Government, with erasures and corrections, 2 p large in-4. Attached: period engraving
