HORACE. The works of Horace translated into French by M. Binet. Paris, Chez l'auteur et Colas, 1781; in-12, 363 + 466 pp, bound in contemporary marbled calf, spines decorated, edges painted red. The 2 volumes. Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) son of a freed slave, lived around 50 B.C. He studied Greek and philosophy. He enlisted in Brutus' army and had to wait for an amnesty to return to Rome. Horace shone in the writing of his Satires and his Odes. Very good condition.
