All 10 volumes. A frontispiece by Cochin and 20 engravings by Marillier. Anne-Claude-Philippe de Tubières de Grimoard de Pestels de Lévis de Caylus, marquis d'Esternay, baron de Branzac, also known as Anne-Claude de Pestels, or the count of Caylus, born on October 31, 1692 in Paris and died on September 5, 1765 in the same city, was a pioneering antiquarian of modern archaeology, a man of letters and a French engraver. This very rare collection is divided into four series: I, Romans de chevalerie; 2, Historiettes, Contes, Nouvelles, etc; 3, Contes orientaux et féeries; 4, facéties. Quérard specifies that the editor has integrated into the whole several opuscules in which the author had only a small part and some attributed writings for which he is not responsible. Our copy is in 10 volumes and appeared one year earlier than a 12 volume edition indicated as the original edition. In the 10th volume, it is indicated end of the tenth and last volume. Rare work.
