On October 3, 2018, on the occasion of German National Day, JR unveiled a GIANT installation in Berlin on the Brandenburg Gate celebrating the 28th anniversary of the country's reunification.
He uses an archive image made by Iris Hesse on November 10, 1989, when the Berlin Wall fell on the very spot symbolizing the division and then reunification of Germany.
