LAVERGNE (Marc Pioche, sieur de). New book of the art of architecture of the five orders and several collections of this science as amphitheatres, plans elevations, perspective and other desseigner correctly according to Vitruvius, Scamossi, Palladio, Vitruvius and de Lorme. Paris, Pierre Bertrand, [c.1655]. In-folio of (40) ff; contemporary stiff vellum. Posthumously published by Jean Marot and comprising a title & 45 engraved plates on 39 leaves. Very rare collection of which the copies present a variable number of plates. According to the collation of the Ensba copy (Les 1279), which contains 44 plates (including the title), this copy has one plate less (one of the two plates entitled "les cinq ordres de l'architecture"), and 3 more on 2 leaves (Le plan d'un amphithéatre romain, figure des arcz renversés pour rentrerre dans le fondement soubz des piles/Machine).
