GILLET DE MOYVRE (Jean-Baptiste). The Life and Loves of Tibullus, a Roman knight, and Sulpicia, a Roman lady. Their poems, & some others translated into French verse, with remarks, a map & figures in intaglio. And the abridged History of the principal events of their time, which relate to their works, parallels, criticisms, apologies, recovery, &c. Paris, Jorry, 1743. 2 vols. in-12, porphyry calf, richly decorated spines, fillet and cold roulette on the boards, gilt roulette on the edges (period binding). Folding map and 11 figures by Dubercelle engraved outside the text, one of which is a frontispiece. Lacking a headpiece, beginning of a split in a jaw, corners slightly dulled, small hole with loss on an engraving otherwise a very good copy. (Cohen 437.)
