In-18 of [2] ff.-106- [2] pp.[2] pp. Brown morocco, spine ribbed and decorated, place and date at the end, gilt roulette and triple fillet framing the boards with a central compartment formed of a garland of intertwined branches; counterfolds framed with double full fillet and dotted fillet gilt with central gilt fleurons and gilt and mosaic flowers in spandrels, moiré pink silk guard with bands of flowers printed in colours, double endpapers, gilt edges, covers preserved (Kauffmann), gilder C.H. Meunier. Slightly rubbed. First edition (the first of 6 successive first editions). Copy with a L.A.S. from Théophile GAUTIER to his "dear co-questeur" whom he reassures by telling him that he has ordered the feast. Portrait of Gautier engraved on China added in frontispiece. Bookplate of M. J. Emmanuel du Trévou de Breffeillac (1855-1922) and bookplate of Bernard Bloch-Levallois, close friend of Sacha Guitry. A superb copy. (Vicaire II, 544.)
