Le Conservateur was published from October 1818 to March 1820, after the fall of Decazes and the restoration of censorship. With the help of Monsieur, the king's brother, who provided the initial funding, ten personalities founded Le Conservateur: Bruges, Talaru, Polignac, Vitrolles, Mathieu de Montmorency, Fiévée, Villèle, Castelbajac, Trouvé and Lamennais.
